Language courses for Falmouth University and the University of Exeter in Cornwall

The university campuses in Cornwall are increasingly international with students and staff coming from over 70 different countries. To reflect this diversity, there is a range of  language courses and activities.

Summer English Language Workshops for Researchers

Weekly language development workshops during July and August in Tremough House. Sign up through the What's on section of StudyHub  The focus of the course will be developed in negotiation with participants following a needs analysis in the first session. Possible topics include:

  • Academic Writing: Maintaining appropriate academic style in reports and articles.
  • Developing Spoken Skills: Focussing on fluency through discussion of topical issues.
  • Language in Use: Grammar and vocabulary.
  • Pronunciation: Focus on accurate production and recognition of the sounds of English.

Evening Foreign Language courses 

Classes are available on the Penryn and Falmouth campuses for all students and staff during the autumn and spring terms. Details

Insessional English Language courses and tutorials

The EAP Team (English for Academic Purposes) deliver free Academic and Social English courses for students and staff for whom English is a second or other language.  Individual tutorials are also available to discuss pieces of work. Details

The Language Exchange and Language Connect

The Exchange and Connect put students and staff in contact to share  languages and to get in touch with others from the same country. Details
